Important Message Regarding 2010 WHA Election

Greetings Waconia Hockey Association Members! This is an exciting time to be part of the Waconia Hockey Association (WHA) as we continue to witness steady growth while deepening our ability to transport a great hockey experience to the youth of our community.  As we head toward the completion of a great 2009–10 season, we are already beginning to prepare for the next year! It is my privilege to invite you to consider your willingness to be part of the leadership team by serving on the Waconia Hockey Association Board of Directors.

The 2010 election for open positions on the WHA Board of Directors will take place at the “Annual Meeting of the WHA Membership” on Monday, May 3, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the Waconia Ice Arena.  Moving toward election day will involve several steps, which brings me to the purpose of this initial e-mail to you.

We are seeking interested candidates for the Board of Directors 2010–11. Currently there are seven Board of Director positions available to which candidates will be elected at the Monday, May 3, election. Candidates do not run for specific board positions during this election process.  However, once a candidate is elected to the general Board of Directors, he/she will be requested to fulfill a specific board role. Given this understanding, current available positions include: President, Secretary/Registrar, Treasurer, District 6 Representative, Equipment/Apparel Manager, Tournament/Volunteer Coordinator, and High School Liaison & Long-Range Planning Coordinator. (Note: Detailed job descriptions for all board positions may be viewed on the WHA Web site at www.waconiahockey.com).

Interested candidates should submit their names, via e-mail, to Dale Laumann at lynnlaumann@embarqmail.com by the deadline of Monday, March 15, 2010.  Candidates should also submit a short statement (100 words or fewer) on the reason for their desire to serve on the WHA Board of Directors, as well as their particular areas of interest.
