WHA 2009–2010 REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Welcome to the 2009–2010 WHA hockey season. There are a few changes to the registration process this year, so please read the following information carefully. Also, please read a welcome letter from Brian Tasson, WHA president.
This year, registration for returning players will open Aug. 5, 2009, and will close Aug. 31, 2009. A $50 late fee will be charged for any registration received later than Aug. 31, 2009. No exceptions will be made. Registration will partially be done online, with a two-step process. Registration for new players will be held Sept. 26 through Oct. 19.
1. All players must visit the USA Hockey Web site and follow the steps to register your player(s). You must complete the USA Hockey waiver and pay the $40 fee ($30 to USA Hockey, $10 to Minnesota Hockey) with a credit card before you can register your player(s) with the Waconia Hockey Association. Players born after 2003 must register with USA Hockey but they are not required to pay a fee; you will still get a bar code to submit to the WHA. If you have more than one player, they must be registered separately on www.usahockey.com. You will receive a confirmation number that appears in a barcode format. This confirmation MUST be saved and mailed in with your WHA Registration Form and payment to the Waconia Hockey Association. USA Hockey’s online registration will accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards. Credit or debit cards cannot be used. A Visa gift card can be purchased and used if you have no credit card available. After registering online with www.usahockey.com, no refunds will be made.
2. After completing your registration with www.usahockey.com and saving your barcode confirmation number, you may now complete your registration with WHA. Please visit the Registration Forms page and print, complete and mail your completed Registration Form and Consent to Treat Form, along with payment (see 2009-2010 Fees page) and your barcode confirmation number, to:
Toni Christopherson
1544 Woodlawn Circle
Waconia, MN 55387
See the fees on the 2009-2010 Fees page of this Web site. If you are paying for your hockey registration with a credit card this year, you will be charged the full amount in a lump sum. Otherwise, checks are accepted in three payments (two payments for Ice Mite- and Mite-level players; see the Fee page for amounts and due dates). Cash will not be accepted, but a money order can be used. If paying by check and you decide to make multiple payments, the additional payments must be mailed to:
WHA
P.O. Box 521
Waconia, MN 55387
Additionally, each family must pay the $150 mandatory Fundraising Fee. In return, each family will receive six tickets to the annual Wine & Cheese Tasting, which will be held March 27. You are free to sell these tickets to recover your costs.
Not sure which team level is the right one for your child, based on his or her age? View the Minnesota Hockey Age Ranges for the 2009-2010 Season. Note: The WHA has determined that to play on an Ice Mite team, your child must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2009.

Minnesota Hockey–Sponsored Recreational League:
We have been advised by Minnesota Hockey that a recreational league through Minnesota Hockey will be available as an alternative to association (WHA) hockey. This is for Squirt- through Bantam-aged players and consists of one Saturday game each week and a weekday practice. Cost is $350 to $450. For more information on this league, please visit the Minnesota Hockey Web site. The league is designed for players who ARE NOT playing in their home association. Therefore, you SHOULD NOT register at all with WHA if you decide to join this league. If you decide to join this league after you’ve registered with WHA, a refund WILL NOT be given. |
